Leeds players told to help 'struggling' Bamford as horror information emerges - pundit

Frank McAvennie

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Frank McAvennie insists Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford will be back among the goals in the near future.

The former West Ham forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the Whites' star's start to the season.

Bamford has only scored once in the league this season with Leeds sitting 17th in the table and without a win to their name.

According to Infogol, Bamford has only managed to get three shots on target in the league this season.

Bamford scored 17 goals last season but has struggled this term with his only successful effort being a scuffed finish against Burnley.

The forward also went goalless for England as he earned his first cap against Andorra earlier this month.

McAvennie insists the goals will start to flow for Bamford but told his teammates to create more chances.

"Leeds look open at the back," McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

"They haven't had the goals to back it up yet. Bamford is struggling, he just isn't getting the chances.

"I've said before about the crowd at Elland Road, what a place to play football.

"The fans can suck the ball in sometimes. I'm not worried for them.

"They are too good to be in a relegation scrap I'm sure. The goals will come."

Leeds

Leeds are next in Premier League action against Steve Bruce's 19th-placed Newcastle on Friday night.

The Magpies will be licking their wounds after last weekend's hammering at Old Trafford and will be without key man Callum Wilson.
