Leicester City are sounding out potential managerial candidates as they prepare to sack Brendan Rodgers during the international break, sources have told Football Insider.

The 49-year-old is on the brink of being fired by the Foxes in the wake of their humiliating 6-2 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.

Leicester chiefs are preparing for a change of manager and are assessing possible replacements for Rodgers.

He has three years remaining on his contract and will be in line for a £10million-plus pay-out if he is dismissed, but that will not stop the Foxes letting him go.

Relations between Rodgers and the board have been tense for some time, and soured further during what was a painful summer transfer window for the manager.

The pair have failed to repair their relationship and it has been exacerbated following a winless start to the new season that leaves Leicester bottom of the Premier League.

Leicester came close to sacking Rodgers in February following a grim series of results and his job is now hanging by a thread.

The club must decide whether to appoint a manager in a similar mould to the northern Irishman, or a 'firefighter' such as Sean Dyche to preserve their top-flight status.

Rodgers joined Leicester in February 2019 following the departure of Claude Puel.

The highlight of his tenure came at the end of the 2020-21 season as he led his side to FA Cup glory.
