Liverpool are targeting Leicester left-back Christian Fuchs to solve their defensive crisis, according to a report.

The Sun claim that Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to the Premier League winner as a solution to the Merseysiders' problem postion.

The 30-year-old was a consistent figure in the Foxes' incredible title-winning campaign of 2015-16 and was widely regarded as one of the Premier League's outstanding left-backs last season.

It is now believed that Klopp is targeting the Austrian international after hearing that new contract talks with the Foxes have stalled.

Fuchs is yet to join the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Danny Drinkwater in extending his contract, which runs for another two seasons, but it is unlikely that Leicester will let go of one of their star men without a fight.

The experienced defender has 78 international appearances to his name, scoring just one goal for Austria.

He has spent just the one season in the east Midlands with Leicester, following his transfer from Schalke in the summer of 2015.

Klopp has used James Miler at left-back in Liverpool's last two Premier League matches following the disappointing performances of Alberto Moreno in the role.
