'Liverpool will wipe the floor with them' - BBC pundit predicts clash against Newcastle

Jermaine Jenas has predicted that Liverpool will be far too hot for Newcastle to handle in Sunday's Premier League showdown.

The Merseyside giants travel to St James' Park aiming to achieve some consistency after a fitful start to the season in which some devastating attacking play has been mixed with dreadful defending.

Jurgen Klopp's side are fifth in the table with 11 points from six matches, only two points ahead of Rafael Benitez's outfit.

But former Magpies midfielder Jenas believes there is a big gap between the two sides in terms of attacking potential as he examined Newcastle's flaws that could make them ripe for the taking on Sunday.

"I think there are some games in the Premier League that will be one step too far for them this season, and this is one of them," Jenas said, as quoted by the BBC Sport website. "Even if Benitez spots a problem I am not sure he can do much about it.

"The Reds' attack is up there with Manchester City's as the best in the league right now and I don't think Newcastle will get away with it again.

"If they play like they did in their defeat at the Amex Stadium, then I think Liverpool will wipe the floor with them."

Newcastle lost 1-0 at Brighton last weekend, while Liverpool beat Leicester 3-2 in a thriller at the King Power Stadium.

Klopp's side then followed up with a 1-1 draw against Spartak Moscow in Russia, a match in which Liverpool dominated as they fielded a front four of Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah for the first time.
