Rangers director of football Mark Allen has had mixed results from his January signings.

After a strong start to the second-half of the season, Rangers have dropped off and the form of the new arrivals has taken a turn for the worst.

However Allen has still left fans impressed by the job he has done and that bodes well going into the summer transfer window as the Ibrox recruitment chief begins to look for new targets.

One player who should definitely be on his shortlist is Hibernian midfielder Dylan McGeouch, whose deal at Easter Road expires in June and he would be available to the Light Blues on a free transfer.

McGeough, 25, left Ibrox after three years in the club's youth ranks in 2011.

He rejected an offer of a new deal from legendary Rangers boss Walter Smith before moving to his boyhood club, bitter rivals Celtic.

McGeough continued his development at Celtic Park and went on to make 27 appearances for the team he supports before leaving to join Hibernian in 2015 and a successful loan spell.

On Saturday, the Scottish midfielder haunted his former club with a man of the match display as Hibs beat the Hoops 2-1 at Easter Road.

He proved that he would be a fantastic addition for Rangers and if Allen can do what Smith had failed to do, then he will surely go down as a legend in the eyes of fans.
