The odds have narrowed on Middlesbrough signing Leeds United striker Chris Wood this summer, according to bookmakers.

Bet Victor priced the Championship club at 4/1 on Monday evening to prise Wood, 25, from Elland Road before the transfer window shuts next month.

Boro, who are managed by ex-Leeds boss Garry Monk, are ahead of a number of Premier League clubs in the betting for Wood, including Huddersfield, Everton, West Ham, Leicester and Newcastle.

Wood had the best season of his career under the former Swansea manager last season as he topped the second-tier scoring charts with 27 goals, and plundered 30 in all competitions.

It has been reported that the forward is valued at £20million by Leeds after he made the three-man shortlist for the Championship player of the season before missing out to eventual winner Anthony Knockaert of Brighton.

Like Knockaet, Wood also struggled for game time at previous club Leicester but he has made a big impact at Leeds since joining for £3million in the summer of 2015.

The forward has two years remaining on his Elland Road contract.
