Newcastle United fans have praised club captain Bruno Guimares after his public statement following his performance against Fulham.

The Magpies were handed their first defeat of the season on Saturday (21 September) as Fulham won 3-1.

The 26-year-old played a part in Fulham’s third goal of the game after his attempted pass fell to Reiss Nelson to wrap up the fixture

Newcastle supporters were vocal in their criticism of Guimares and his performance, and that’s something he was open about too.

The Brazil international took to social media to own his mistakes from the game, while claiming he is “100% included” in needing to improve.

Supporters of the north east giants have been impressed with his accountability in this situation.

The Toon Army were happy to see Guimares’ statement, and immediately backed him by making it clear his mistake “doesn’t define the amazing times” he has provided the club.
