Newcastle United fans have demanded the club sign Ipswich left-back Leif Davis this summer after he confessed his desire to play for the club.

A clip of an interview with Football Daily did the rounds on social media in which the 24-year-old confessed his desire to play for Newcastle at St James' Park, stating: "It's incredible."

As a result, fans have called upon the club to bring him in, with many suggesting a swap deal involving Matt Targett thanks to his "crazy" wages.

Davis played 43 games in the Championship last season, providing 18 assists as he helped them secure second place and secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The defence has become a priority for Newcastle this summer, although they are well-stocked at left-back, with Targett joined by Dan Burn and Lewis Hall, and Lloyd Kelly also expected to join.

However, fans have suggested that the club could shift some current options to bring in Davis after his recent comments.

Others, meanwhile, want him to arrive regardless of any outgoing movement.

Others demanded the deal be done "immediately".
