Newcastle United midfielder Joe White has agreed to join Leyton Orient, sources have told Football Insider.

White, 22, will move to League One outfit Orient on loan for the 2025/26 campaign as Richie Wellens' side eye promotion to the Championship.

There is a full agreement in place between the two clubs, and the deal is expected to be completed within the next 24 hours.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Milton Keynes in League Two, making 23 starts, scoring six goals, and picking up two assists.

Leyton Orient to sign England youth international on loan

Back in 2016, White joined Newcastle at the age of just 13, before making his way through the ranks at the Tyneside club.

The Carlisle-born attacking midfielder has had loan spells at the likes of Hartlepool United, Exeter City, and Crewe Alexandra.

White made four Premier League substitute appearances for the Magpies at the back end of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, and also has three caps for the England under-18 side.

He joins an Orient team that narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship last season, losing 1-0 in the play-off final to Charlton Athletic.

Bruno Guimaraes shares exclusive Alexander Isak update

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Howe’s squad touched down in Singapore ahead of their pre-season tour, the 27-year-old explained that the club will deal with the situation, while he insisted the Sweden international has remained in Newcastle due to an injury.

The official word coming from the Magpies remains that he is struggling with a minor thigh injury sustained during their training camp in Austria.

However, reports say that the Sweden international was left at home at his own request as he has asked to leave Newcastle and is actively seeking a move.
