Newcastle United are set to battle Premier League rivals Brighton and Crystal Palace to sign Feyenoord winger Gio-Renys Felicia this summer, Football Insider understands.

The 16-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in Holland after breaking into his club's under-17 side during the 2019/20 campaign.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the teenage forward has caught the eye of the Newcastle scouts and they are preparing to launch a move this summer.

It is understood that Crystal Palace and Brighton are also keen on recruiting the hot prospect after his impressive performances for both club and country.

Known for his pace and trickery, Felicia turned out seven times for Feyenoord's under-17s last season and has been tipped to become a regular among the starting XI next term.

The teenager, who only turned 16 back in February, also started for the Dutch under-15s back in May 2019 and is in line to make the step up to the under-16s when national football resumes.

Newcastle's last signing from the Eredivisie was former Feyenoord star Georginio Wijnaldum, with the midfielder joining from PSV Eindhoven back in 2015.

The Magpies also signed Dutch left-back Jetro Willems on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.

Crystal Palace currently have two Dutch talents in Patrick van Aanholt and Jairo Riedewald, with the pair coming to England from PSV and Ajax respectively.

Brighton meanwhile signed 17-cap Netherlands international Davy Propper from PSV back in 2017.
