Norwich City are in advanced talks to sign Greece international Dimitrios Giannoulis from PAOK Salonika, Football Insider understands.

The two clubs are close to reaching an agreement on a loan-to-buy deal for the 25-year-old left-back.

A Norwich source has told Football Insider a potential deal would see Giannoulis join on an initial loan with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Giannoulis has spent the entirety of his career thus far in his native Greece.

He began his journey in the lower leagues, making his senior debut for fourth-tier Vataniakos in 2012.

After two seasons and one promotion with the Katerini-based side, Giannoulis earned a move to PAOK, one of the most successful and prestigious sides in Greece.

Before making his PAOK debut, Giannoulis would spent a grand total of five seasons out loan, initially with teams in the lower divisions before getting his first taste of top-flight football with Atromis in 2017-18.

He was named at left-back in the Super League Team of the Year that season, leading to an international call up and to PAOK to finally include him in their first-team plans in 2018-19.

His first season as a PAOK regular was a historic one, helping the club to an undefeated campaign and a first league title since 1985.

The left-back has played 77 times for PAOK in total, scoring twice and making 11 assists.

In Norwich, he would join a team top of the Championship and desperate to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt after relegation in 2019-20.

Giannoulis would likely come in as cover for Jakob Sorenson, who joined Daniel Farke's side in the summer as a replacement for Newcastle-bound Jamal Lewis.
