'Oh wow' - Exclusive: Tottenham tipped to sign PL ace after big Sky update
Noel Whelan has named Tottenham as the likely winners in their battle with Everton to sign Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the 24-year-old will find it very hard to turn down a move to north London this summer.
Sky Sports report that both Tottenham and Everton are locked in talks to sign the Danish midfielder, with Spurs willing to offer Kyle Walker-Peters as a makeweight in the deal.
It is stated neither side have met Southampton's valuation of £25million for the former Bayern Munich man.
Whelan claims that while both clubs have "fantastic managers" at the helm, a move to join Spurs under Jose Mourinho would be too difficult to turn down.
Asked who he thought would win out in the transfer battle, Whelan told Football Insider: "Oh wow, I'm not so sure - you've got two fantastic managers there, haven't you, in Mourinho and Ancelotti, two legends of the game.
"Personally I think he's probably going to be swayed towards London and to Tottenham. I think that's probably going to be the way he goes.
"I think it would probably suit him more, Tottenham have been in for him and interested for a number of months now, Everton have only really just come in with this little bit of interest.
"With the new stadium, the players they have, I think it would be very hard to turn down Tottenham."
He has a total of 108 Premier League games under his belt, as well as 33 caps for Denmark.
