Pundit backs Leeds to sign Batshuayi amid 'crazy' Bielsa reveal
Michy Batshuayi would have to up his work rate levels if he wants to be a success at Leeds United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward claimed he is a "good striker" and would therefore offer good competition to Patrick Bamford.
The Telegraph reported on June 2 Leeds are interested in the Chelsea forward who worked under Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille.
The Belgium international scored nine Ligue 1 goals in 26 games, including 20 starts, in Bielsa's only full season in charge of the club.
He told Onze Mondial in 2018 that he thought Bielsa was "crazy" after he told him he would be worth €40million when he left the French club.
In July 2016, a month before Bielsa left Marseille, Batshuayi joined Chelsea for a reported €40 million fee, worth around £33.2 million.
However, the 27-year-old has struggled for regular game time at Chelsea and has spent the last 18 months on loan at Crystal Palace.
Across his time with Chelsea and Palace, he has scored 15 goals and contributed five assists in 77 Premier League games.
Asked whether he would be a good addition for Leeds, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It could be.
“If his work rate can get up to that level, at Leeds your work rate has to be up there.
“He’s going to have to work hard to get to where Bielsa wants.
“But he’s a good striker so it would be good competition for that striker position.”
Batshuagi managed just two goals and two assists in 18 top-flight games for Palace last term, including seven starts.
Bamford started 37 Premier League games for Leeds which yielded 17 goals and eight assists.
