Rangers fans are suggesting that Frank de Boer could make a stunning return to Ibrox as manager after he was sacked by Crystal Palace on Monday.

The Eagles confirmed on their official website that they had "parted company" with De Boer, 47, after just four Premier League games in charge - all of which resulted in a loss.

De Boer spent half a season as a player for Rangers in 2004 and the fans' calls for him to return to the blue half of Glasgow aren't a new thing as when Mark Warburton was under pressure before he quit Ibrox, supporters wanted the Dutchman to replace him.

Even though Pedro Caixinha seems to be a part of what is a very much a long-term project at Rangers, fans still think de Boer will be coming back one day.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

De Boer managed a total of five games for Palace but only won once which was a 2-1 victory over Ipswich in the Carabao Cup in August.

In the Premier League they are without a goal and without a point in four games and even though it's a very early stage, they look nailed on to be in a relegation struggle for the course of the campaign.
