Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to support Celtic star Scott Sinclair after a fan was pictured making a monkey gesture in his direction at Ibrox on Saturday.

The 28-year-old opened the scoring against Pedro Caixinha’s side from the penalty spot and as he celebrated, a picture on the Scottish Sun’s Twitter account showed a Gers fan making the expression in Sinclair’s direction.

Although the Old Firm derby is one of the most intense rivalries in world football, fans of the Light Blues gave their backing to the Celtic star.

Here is a selection of tweets from Rangers fans in reaction to Sinclair’s post:

Sinclair has been in hot form for Celtic this season after signing from Aston Villa last summer.

He has been one of Brendan Rodgers' best coups for the club as in 45 appearances across all competitions, he's managed to find the net 25 times and supply ten assists.

Saturday's victory was the second time this season that the Bhoys have ran away 5-1 winners in the Old Firm derby and Rodgers' men have come out on top in all but one of the all-Glasgow showdowns in Rangers' return to the top-flight.

Celtic's dreams of finishing the domestic campaign unbeaten are still alive after their win at Ibrox.

The Hoops have four games to play in the league before a Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen in May, in which they can secure a domestic treble.
