Rangers are set to miss out on signing Liverpool winger Harry Wilson on loan, Football Insider sources understand.

New Rangers boss Steven Gerrard had eyed up a raid on his old club Liverpool for Wilson this summer as he looks to strengthen his squad at Ibrox.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Wales international Wilson will snub any move to Rangers due to the fact the Scottish giants have twice previously turned down the opportunity to sign the skilful attacker in the past, and he has interest from a host of Championship clubs.

As many as eight Championship clubs have expressed an interest in taking Wilson on loan next season and Liverpool will decide where they feel will be the best option for him to continue his development.

Wilson is due to return to Liverpool this summer after a successful loan spell at Hull City during the second half of this season.

The 21-year-old scored seven goals and registerted four assists in 14 appearances for Hull and picked up a Championship Player of the Month award along the way.

Wilson is highly-regarded at Liverpool and he signed a new long-term deal at Anfield prior to his loan move to Hull.
