Leeds United are yet to make any contact with Preston over striker Jordan Hugill, according to a reliable journalist. Freelance reporter and Peak FM commentator Joe Rawson detailed an update on his

on Thursday morning as he claimed that Leeds and Preston have not been in touch, however the Deepdale club has said that Hugill, 25, is unlikely to leave this month.

Football Insider

has exclusively revealed that

. United were one of a number of clubs to be interested in the former Port Vale forward during the summer when he handed in a transfer request at Preston. The Yorkshire club have continued to keep tabs on the powerhouse striker, known for his strength and aerial ability, and are ready to make a pounce for him this month. Hugill has made 26 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring 10 goals in the process.

Football Insider verdict

Hugill would be a good addition at Elland Road. He has proven in the past two seasons that he can consistently find the net in the Championship and would fit a similar mould that Chris Wood was in before he left to join Burnley. Preston say that they have no interest in selling the 25-year-old forward, but Alex Neil has already signed another striker in Louis Moult this month from Motherwell, so that may well be in case Hugill leaves. Leeds do need a striker though. The additions in the summer have not been good enough.
