Robinson issues 'massive' Man City verdict after update on Pep Guardiola's future via BBC
Paul Robinson has claimed "it will be a massive blow" for Man City when Pep Guardiola decides to leave the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one suggested the 51-year-old will have "a huge say on his successor" at the Etihad.
Guardiola has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Etihad.
As quoted by the BBC (1 October), the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager was relaxed on his future plans.
He said the club know what to do "now, the day after tomorrow, after the World Cup, next season and the next season."
Robinson believes Guardiola's exit would be felt more than the manager has suggested.
"It will be a massive blow," he told Football Insider.
"Everything has a lifespan though. We saw Arsene Wenger stay too long at Arsenal when performances were not going right for them on the pitch. He stayed a bit too long in my opinion. I do not think Pep would do that for one minute.
"Where Man City are, who would want to leave. The fact that his contract is nearing its end is not important. It will have no impact whatsoever. If he wants to stay the club will give him a contract for however many years he wants.
"When he eventually looks to leave he will have a huge say on his successor.
"As good as they are, he still has unfinished business there. They need to win the Champions League. He will want to get it over the line. I think he will stay until he has done that."
