Paul Robinson is "really surprised" by the time it is taking Tottenham to appoint a new manager.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one cannot believe there was "no contingency plan" from Daniel Levy following Jose Mourinho's dismissal in April.

Robinson claims the incoming manager, whether it be Conte or someone else, will be identifying key transfer targets during the Euros even if their appointment is not announced by then.

"Jose's sacking was a surprise and there has obviously been different reasons given for why they did sack him at that point in the season but we are not privy exactly why," he told Football Insider's Dylan Childs.

"One thing is for sure, there was no contingency plan from Daniel Levy and that has really surprised me because normally there is.

"Let's be honest, the fact that it has been this long says they are still unsure as to who they want.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy

"Daniel is a very good businessman who is normally very proactive in his decision making. To leave it this long has surprised me already. It would suggest to me that they are not 100 per cent set on who they want or that they cannot get who they want.

"If a manager is not appointed before the Euros it is not a huge blow as any candidate who has been spoken to by the club will be drawing up a list of targets during the Euros. I would rather see it done sooner rather than later though."
