Brighton are plotting a beat-the-deadline move for Huddersfield Town star Aaron Mooy, Football Insider understands.

Mooy's future at Huddersfield has been the subject of conjecture following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Newcastle have also shown an interest in Mooy this summer, along with West Ham and Watford, but now Brighton are planning a late foray into the transfer market for the midfield playmaker.

Brighton boss Graham Potter is keen to add to his midfield options before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday and a source close to the club has told Football Insider that Mooy has emerged as his top target.

Australian international Mooy impressed in Huddersfield's two campaigns in the Premier League and Brighton are hoping they can convince Huddersfield to sell their star midfielder.

Mooy featured in Huddersfield's opening Championship game at home to Derby, but would be interested in a move back to the Premier League.
