Celtic star Dedryck Boyata is confident of securing a free transfer to Hertha Berlin this summer despite the sacking of their manager, Football Insider understands.

The Belgium international is out of contract at the end of the season and is in talks to join the Bundesliga club on a Bosman free.

Hertha announced on Tuesday that manager  Pal Dardai will leave his position at the end of the season after four years in charge.

A run of five straight defeats this campaign has left the German top-tier club languishing in 11th in the table, 12 points adrift of the European qualification places.

But that is not expected to have any bearing on the club's attempts to seal a deal for Boyata.

A source close to the player has told Football Insider that Herta's offer of a long-term contract to Boyata is still on the table and he has indicated he is ready to accept it.

Boyata is currently out with a torn hamstring and is likely to have made the last of his 135 appearances for Celtic in all competitions since signing from Manchester City in the summer of 2015.
