Everton are the latest club to make an enquiry for Leeds United winger Dan James, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old has been on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs despite starting two of United's four Premier League matches this term.

It is believed Everton have enquired about signing James ahead of the Thursday transfer cut-off.

James was suspended for the first game of the new campaign but reprised his role in the Leeds United lineup for the 3-0 win over Chelsea on 21 August.

That start means James has started two of Leeds' opening five games of the new Premier League season though he has failed to provide a goal or any assist.

The Whites have been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing Luis Sinisterra and Brenden Aaronson, who can operate in the same areas as James.

The winger was in and out of form during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring four goals and registering five assists in 32 league appearances for Leeds.

Everton have already bolstered their attacking options with the arrivals of Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay this summer.

However, they remain without Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he suffered a long-term injury on the eve of the new season.

James has scored four goals in 39 total appearances since joining Leeds United in the summer of 2021.

He failed to make an impact at former club Manchester United.
