Manchester United midfielder Fred has no intention of quitting the club before the European transfer window closes, Football Insider has learned.

Reports emanating from Italy claim Fiorentina are working on a deal to sign the 26-year-old before next Monday’s transfer deadline only a year after his arrival.

However, a United source had told Football Insider that Fred has told senior officials he wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.

The Brazil midfielder struggled to live up to expectations at United last season following his £47million capture from Shakhtar Donetsk.

He made 17 Premier League appearances among 25 in all competitions as he struggled to establish himself first under Jose Mourinho and then Solskjaer.

The central midfielder has been frozen out in the new campaign and has yet to feature after dropping down the pecking order behind the likes of Scott McTominay and and Andreas Pereira as well as Paul Pogba.

However, he is determined not to give up on his Old Trafford ambitions and wants to win back his place under Solskjaer.
