Sources: Liverpool star Elijah Dixon-Bonner agrees to quit the club after ‘agreement’
Liverpool midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner is set to leave next month after reaching an agreement with the club, Football Insider understands.
The 21-year-old is out of contract at Anfield next month but has the option of a further 12 months.
Now a Liverpool source has told Football Insider that Dixon-Bonner has mutually agreed not to take up the option to extend his deal.
He is now set to look for a new club and leave on a free transfer.
The former Arsenal youngster joined Liverpool in 2015 but has struggled to break into Jurgen Klopp's side.
The centre-midfielder has just three first-team appearances to his name for the Reds - two in the FA Cup and one in the EFL Cup.
His only start for the club came in a 2-0 win over Shrewsbury Town on 9 January in the FA Cup.
Liverpool went on to win the competition, beating Chelsea on penalties last Saturday.
On Twitter (14 May), Dixon-Bonner shared his delight and said he "can't believe" that he is a part of such a squad.
The young midfielder was expected to leave Anfield on loan in January but a move failed to materialise.
Dixon-Bonner instead remained with the club's Under-23s for whom he has made 55 appearances over the course of four seasons.
Liverpool travel to Southampton tonight needing to win to keep alive their hopes of winning an historic quadruple.
