Blackburn Rovers have joined West Brom in the race to sign Adam Reach after his Sheffield Wednesday exit, Football Insider has learned.

The 28-year-old winger is a free agent after being released by Wednesday at the end of last month.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Blackburn and West Brom have both been in contact to register their interest in signing Reach.

On 21st May, this site revealed Norwich's interest in signing the attacker after his Hillsborough exit.

Reach made 44 Championship appearances for the Owls last season scoring five goals and registering three assists.

His contribution was not enough to keep Wednesday in the second tier as they were relegated on the final day.

He leaves the club after making 230 appearances, scoring 24 goals and picking up 34 assists.

West Brom are looking to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking under new boss Valerian Ismael.

It is widely expected star man Matheus Pereira will leave the club and return to the top flight this summer.

Reach would be an affordable option to come in and bolster Ismael's attacker should Pereira leave.

The attacker has 306 Championship appearances to his name after featuring heavily for Middlesbrough, Preston and Wednesday.

Despite two Championship playoff campaigns, Reach has never achieved promotion to the Premier League.

This will be West Brom's primary objective after their poor top flight campaign last season.

Blackburn will also be looking for a better 2021-22 after finishing 15th in the Championship last season, 13 points above the relegation zone.
