Norwich City are preparing to open new contract talks with rising star Dylan Berry, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old is highly regarded within the corridors of power at Carrow Road after joining the club from Northampton Town in the summer of 2021.

Berry is in the final year of his contract at Norwich and the club are looking to tie him down to a new long-term deal to fend off growing interest.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international is currently on loan at St Albans so he can continue his development with regular first-team football.

Goalkeeper Berry had been playing in Premier League 2 competition for the Canaries prior to his temporary departure.

He made four appearances for Norwich's development side this term, conceding six - amid 16 outings in total.

Berry made his St Albans debut just days after joining in a 2-1 defeat by Dulwich Hamlet and followed that milestone with a clean sheet in a 6-0 win against Hampton and Richmond on Tuesday (1 November).

His temporary spell at the National League South club runs for just over seven more weeks.

Norwich currently boast four first-team goalkeepers, with Angus Gunn and Tim Krul both turning out this season as they vie to be first choice.

Wales Under-21 international Daniel Barden, 21, also stands in the way of Berry at Carrow Road after coming through the ranks at Arsenal.

The Norfolk side sit fifth in the Championship this term after shipping 20 goals in their opening 19 games.

The Canaries face Rotherham and Middlesbrough in their last two games before the mid-season World Cup break.
