Sources: Pedro Martins agrees to be new Hull City manager
Hull City have agreed a deal with Portuguese coach Pedro Martins to be their new manager, sources have told Football Insider.
Martins, 52, who has also been linked with the vacant Wolves job, has agreed a deal to replace Shota Arveladze at Hull and his appointment is a major coup for Tigers owner Acun Ilicali
Martins has been out of work since leaving Olympiacos earlier this year where he won the Greek title three times.
Martins beat off interest from the likes of Carlos Carvalhal and Carlos Coberan to land the job at Hull.
Corberan replaced Martins at Olympiacos over the summer but lasted less than two months in charge before being sacked.
Sources told Football Insider on Tuesday (4 October) that Carvalhal and Corberan were on a shortlist for the Hull City job along with Scott Parker and former Besiktas manager Sergen Yalcin.
However, Martins has usurped all of them and is the favourite of Ilicali.
Hull City moved to sack Arveladze on the day of their 2-0 loss to Luton Town on Friday (30 September) following a run of just one win in seven games.
The defeat to Luton has left the Tigers 20th in the Championship, a point above the relegation places with the worst goal difference in the league.
They are next in action on Wednesday night (5 October) when they host Wigan Athletic but Martins is unlikely to be in the dugout at the MKM Stadium.
