Ipswich Town, Portsmouth and Charlton Athletic are chasing Luton Town striker Danny Hylton on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.

The 33-year-old, who helped Luton reach the Championship play-off semi-finals last season, is out of contract at at the end of June and looks set to leave as a free agent.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Hylton's availability on a free transfer has alerted a host of clubs.

Ipswich, Portsmouth and Charlton are all keen on him as they look to build sides capable of challenging for promotion from League One.

Hylton was a bit-part player for the Hatters in the 2021-22 campaign.

He scored four goals in his 17 Championship appearances.

On 20 May, Luton Town confirmed they were in negotiations with Hylton, Kal Naismith and Robert Snodgrass regarding extending their stays at Kenilworth Road.

However, Hylton is yet to agree new terms and an exit could be on the cards.

The centre-forward joined Nathan Jones' side from Oxford United on a free transfer in July 2016.

In 170 total appearances for the club he has contributed 62 goals and 18 assists.

Hylton has also enjoyed spells at Aldershot Town, Oxford United and AFC Wimbledon during his career.

Portsmouth, Ipswich and Charlton all finished in mid-table in League One last season.

All three clubs aspire to gain promotion from England's third tier in the upcoming campaign.
