Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson is in no rush to sign a new deal amid Leeds United and West Ham interest, Football Insider understands.

Forest have opened talks with the 20-year-old over a new contract after rejecting big-money offers for him in the January transfer window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Johnson is going to hold off on committing his long-term future to Forest in a big boost to his suitors.

In addition to Leeds and West Ham, Crystal Palace are monitoring his situation as well as Brentford, whose final bid rejected by Forest in January was worth £18million.

Johnson wants to see what other offers come in for him this summer.

The Wales international has a contract at the City Ground that runs until the summer of 2023.

Brentford are believed to have grown frustrated at Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis during January for regularly moving the goalposts over his asking price for Johnson.

The London club were willing to go well beyond the £13.5m paid for record-signing Kristoffer Ajer last summer.

Johnson has caught the attention of the Premier League's elite with his performances.

A versatile attacker who mainly plays out wide, Johnson has scored 11 goals and contributed five assists in 35 appearances in all competitions this season.
