Adam Smith has reportedly rejected a return to Tottenham to sign a new Bournemouth contract.

The Sun claim that Spurs were keen to re-sign Smith, 26, this summer after selling Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50million.

It is said that the north Londoners have now been snubbed after Bournemouth announced on their official

and social media channels on Tuesday that Smith has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal.

The agreement ties the right-back to Eddie Howe's team until 2021 and ends speculation that Spurs could snap him up for a second time.

Smith joined the Cherries on a permanent basis in January 2014 after having a loan spell at the club earlier in his career and has accumulated 155 appearances in all competitions while establishing himself as a mainstay of the side.

The defender, who made just one appearance for Spurs after graduating from their youth ranks, revealed he was "delighted" at penning a Bournemouth extension.

It leaves Tottenham with just Kieran Tripper as a senior option on the right side of defence, although they do have England Under-20 international Kyle Walker-Peters as a back-up option.
