Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the injury to Adam Lallana isn't as bad as was first feared.

The 29-year-old has only started one Premier League game this season after sitting out the first half of the campaign.

And there was concern that he had suffered a major setback after being introduced in the 65th minute of the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday, only to go off five minutes later.

However, Klopp has delivered a relieved message to fans, saying in the Independent: "Thank God, that's not as bad as we thought - a number of weeks.

"There is a little hope, of course, that we can maybe use him again this season but we have to wait; it is absolutely not the time to bring any rush into the situation.

"It is not the Adam Lallana season so far. It makes the season so far even more special when you think that we have played the season without him."

Football Insider verdict:

Great news for Liverpool fans and for Lallana himself. Everyone feared that Lallana had suffered a serious reaction to the hamstring injury and that could have meant another lengthy stay on the sidelines. Now it looks like he could be back before the end of the season, but this shows that he needs wrapping in cotton wool. Klopp should write this season off and concentrate on getting him back fully fit for the start of the 18/19 campaign.
