Paul Robinson expects Pape Matar Sarr to leave Tottenham on loan again ahead of next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane goalkeeper believes another temporary spell away from Antonio Conte's side would be best for the 19-year-old's development.

Sarr joined Tottenham in August 2021 but is yet to make his debut for the club.

The centre-midfielder spent last season on loan at Metz in Ligue 1.

According to Football.London's Alasdair Gold (19 June), Conte is yet to make a decision on Sarr for the 2022-23 campaign and will assess him in pre-season.

When asked by Football Insider what would be best for the Senegal international, Robinson said: "Sarr has been out on loan.

"He played a lot in France last year which will have only done him good.

"A lot depends on what the manager thinks going forward in the future.

"You would think that a player of that age, that has been out on loan in France, it will do him no harm to do the same again.

"Send him back out. Players careers can be held back. It can be detrimental to keep them in the squad for the sake of it.

"If he is only going to be a substitute on a couple of occasions next year he is far better going out on loan again.

"We saw last season what he can do playing regularly. Another season like that will be great for his development.

"I can see him going out on loan again.”
