Tottenham released a Friday update on the fitness of Toby Alderweireld as the centre-back continues to rehab from a hamstring injury.

The club confirmed that he was starting to re-integrate into first-team training, after training on his own for the past couple of weeks, and fans are delighted.

The fitness update was posted on the official Tottenham Twitter page on Friday lunchtime.

Alderweireld hasn't played a Premier League game since the end of October after injuring his hamstring.

His first attempt at a comeback ended with him aggravating his injury after playing in the FA Cup games against Newport and Rochdale.

There's also the thorny issue of his contract talks, with the centre-back so far resisting all calls for him to sign improved terms.

There's a clause which means he could be sold on the cheap in 2019 and fans are worried that means Tottenham might have to cash in this summer.
