Tottenham have "no chance" of recouping the £42million they paid for Davinson Sanchez this summer.

That is according to former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the prospect of the 24-year-old being sold.

Jose Mourinho is eyeing up multiple centre-back signings to replace Sanchez as he “can’t be trusted” in the big matches.

The £42million signing from Ajax has started the last seven Premier League games for Spurs, including Sunday's 2-1 defeat in the North London derby.

He stayed in the starting Xi for Thursday evening's Europa League clash against Dinamo Zagreb, partnering recalled Eric Dier in central defence.

When asked if Spurs could recoup the fee they paid for Sanchez in August 2017, Campbell told

:

"No, they have no chance of recouping that fee.

"But I still think they can get decent money for him in the summer. How much? I am not quite sure but a sizeable amount that could be used to strengthen elsewhere.

"He has been playing better of late but it was definitely a penalty in the derby. He makes no contact with the ball. It's a foul on Lacazette."

Sanchez is one of four centre-halves in Mourinho's first team squad, along with Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Joe Rodon.

He has made 145 career appearances for the Lilywhites and has three and a half years remaining on his contract.
