Tottenham have joined the pack of clubs keen on Brentford goal machine Ivan Toney, Football Insider understands.

The striker, 25, is one of the most coveted players in English football after a sensational campaign in which he could become the first striker to score 30 goals in a Championship season.

He is on the target list of multiple Premier League clubs and a Tottenham source has told Football Insider they are one of them.

The Londoners want a proven senior striker regardless of whether star man Harry Kane engineers the transfer he is seeking in the upcoming window.

The Midlands giants are keen on luring the Brazilian, 26, and have already been in contact with his parent club Benfica over a potential deal.

Toney is regarded as capable of making a big impression in the Premier League three years after being let go by Newcastle United for just £350,000.

He has reignited his career during three goal-drenched campaigns, the first two in League One at Peterborough United and then at Brentford this term.

The striker has banged in 29 league goals from 43 matches this season, as well as supplied 10 assists.

This comes after he topped the League One charts in the last abbreviated campaign with 24 goals as well as a further two in the FA Cup.

His haul of 53 league goals in the last two seasons is 14 more than Kane, whose future is set to dominate the summer transfer window.
