Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters will hold talks with the Crystal Palace and Southampton managers this week as he closes in on a January move, Football Insider can reveal.

The right-back is to be allowed to leave the north Londoners after struggling to make an impression under new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Walker-Peters, 22, is in line for discussions with Palace boss Roy Hodgson and Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl before making a decision on where he will play for the second half of the campaign.

It is expected that the former England Under-21 international will leave Spurs on loan, although a permanent exit has not been ruled out.

One possibility is a loan move that includes an option to sign him permanently at the end of the campaign.

Hodgson admitted last week he was keen to sign Walker-Peters after Football Insider broke the news that Palace had held extensive talks about recruiting him.

Jose Mourinho has given Walker-Peters the green light to secure a transfer after handing him just one appearance since he took over as manager.

The defender began this season in the team, starting the first three Premier League matches at right-back under Mauricio Pochettino.

But his subsequent two games have come in the League Cup and a Champions League dead rubbers.

Mourinho has instead put his faith in Serge Aurier at right-back and he has started all matches since he took over as manager.

Walker-Peters once again failed to even make the matchday squad for last Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.
