Sources: Tottenham re-open talks to sell Carter-Vickers to his former club
Bournemouth have reignited talks over signing Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Championship outfit had pulled the plug on their pursuit of the centre-back after making enquiries earlier in the summer.
Now a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Bournemouth are making a concerted move for the USA international.
Carter-Vickers thrived on loan at Bournemouth last season after overcoming injury troubles.
He is set to leave Spurs for good after being told he’s free to find a new club and is not expected to play for his parent team again.
A Spurs source told this site in July that they had triggered a 12-month extension option in the defender's deal to protect his market value.
The club originally wanted £2.5million for him in January as he then had just six months remaining on his contract.
But Spurs are now asking for £5m for the 23-year-old after tying him down to an extended deal.
He is still well down the pecking order at the North London club despite the permanent departures of Juan Foyth and Toby Alderweireld this summer.
The eight-times United States international has also been the subject of strong interest from Newcastle United and Celtic.
But it was at Bournemouth where Carter-Vickers shone across his 25-appearance spell on the south coast in 2020-21.
He has been sent out on loan six times by Spurs since signing his first professional terms in 2016.
