Van de Beek tipped to start against Watford as another Man United star set to miss out - pundit
Man United midfielder Donny van de Beek is in line to make his first Premier League start of the season on Saturday.
That is the view of former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old's 'mistreatment' at Old Trafford.
As reported by Sky Sports (9th November), Paul Pogba fears he will be out until the new year with a thigh injury sustained on international duty.
The centre-midfielder is already unavailable for United's trip to Watford after he was sent off again Liverpool last month.
Solskjaer could also be without Scott McTominay on Saturday.
As confirmed by club media, McTominay missed both of Scotland's World Cup Qualifiers during the international break because of illness and is in a race against time to feature against Watford.
When asked by Football Insider if the news could lead to a start for Donny van de Beek, Robinson said: "He has not been given an opportunity there.
"When you sign a player of that level and that talent you expect them to play at least semi-regularly. There is clearly an issue with the manager. Solskjaer doesn't fancy him because he only plays him when he has to.
"But, with the injuries he will likely get his opportunity to start. Hopefully he shows the manager what he can do.
"I like Donny van de Beek. He's got heart and spirit which is what a lot of the Man United players haven't got.
"The manager has not treated him right for whatever reason.
"When he comes on he looks to have a different mentality to the rest. He gives his all even if it's just for two minutes."
