Pundit '100% sure' on Man United appointing Rodgers after board reveal
Brendan Rodgers is “100 per cent” ready to become Man United manager.
That is the view of ex-Leicester City coach Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 48-year-old potentially replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.
Speaking on the Football and Friends podcast (November 9th), Fabrizio Romano revealed Rodgers, Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are the three managers the club “appreciate”.
Football Insider revealed a day later that the United board will sack Solskjaer if he does not oversee a revival immediately after the international break.
The Red Devils travel to Watford, Villarreal and Chelsea next.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Rodgers has the credentials for the job, Phillips said: “I’m 100 per cent sure he does.

“He is a top, top manager and he has proved it at all of the clubs he has been at. Tactically, he is very good. He is also a brilliant coach and man-manager.
“You cannot argue with his track record. He is a very clever guy who knows a lot about football.
“I think he would handle the job with no problem whatsoever. He has managed one of the biggest clubs in the world in terms of Liverpool.
“At the end of the day, only time will tell if he will leave Leicester. He keeps saying he won’t but when Manchester United come knocking, one of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s hard to turn them down.”
Rodgers won the FA Cup with Leicester City last season but has faced criticism for his failure to qualify for the Champions League.
His contract at the King Power Stadium runs until the summer of 2025.
