Mile Jedinak gave Aston Villa the lead in the 15th minute of their Championship play-off first leg, and fans flocked onto Twitter to rave about their new hero.

It's a huge goal away from home and makes Aston Villa big favourites to go on and qualify for one of the richest games in British football.

And it was ironic as some Villa fans were moaning about Jedinak starting before the game kicked off.

Those moans quickly gave way to cheering and other fans that pointed out that Jedinak was in the side for his height proved prophetic.

He was supposed to be adding ballast at the back with Tony Pulis favouring set piece attacks, but he proved his worth at the other end, and was a constant menace to Middlesbrough.

If Villa do go on and qualify, Jedinak's goal could prove to be one of the most important of the season.
