Wiedwald not cutting it: Three PL goalkeepers Leeds must swoop for in January
COMMENT By Danny Wright
Leeds United have enjoyed a brilliant start to the campaign, but one issue that is being constantly brought up by fans and pundits is their options between the sticks.
Felix Wiedwald is just months into his spell at Elland Road after signing from Werder Bremen in the summer but has certainly had his critics after losses against Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff in which he conceded six goals and saw the Whites' lead at the summit of the Championship slip away.
If Leeds want to secure promotion to the Premier League this season then they have to make instant changes, such is the short-termness of football these days.
One option would be to bring Andy Lonergan into the first-team fold and give him a run of games, but if Leeds really want to go up they need someone from the Premier League who can act like a brick wall from January to May.
Here, Football Insider looks at three top-flight goalkeepers that the Whites must try to sign in January with Wiedwald simply not cutting it at Elland Road.

Karl Darlow (Newcastle)
For some reason, Rafa Benitez decided he would simply axe Darlow from his first-team at St. James' Park with just a handful of games to go at the end of last season when his side won the Championship title.
Leeds could really do with a shot-stopper who has experience of the English second-tier, is a good communicator and could potentially be available in January.
It was widely reported that Newcastle were thinking about selling the ex-Nottingham Forest ace in the summer, but after nothing happened, he remained on Tyneside, playing second fiddle to Rob Elliot.
Darlow would be an achievable signing for Thomas Christiansen and would be a step up from Weidwald.

Artur Boruc (Bournemouth)
If experience is what Christiansen wants then Bournemouth's Boruc would certainly be his man.
Although he is aged 37, the Polish stopper is still as nimble as ever and would be streaks ahead of Wiedwald in the pecking order should he join the Whites in January.
He is currently second choice to Asmir Begovic at Dean Court and has only played twice this season, with both appearances coming in League Cup wins.
The ex-Celtic goalkeeper kept an impressive clean sheet in an extra-time win against Brighton, proving that he still has what it takes to play regularly in what is no doubt likely to be the twilight of his career.

Rob Green (Huddersfield)
Christiansen would be practically admitting that he is wrong with an audacious move to bring Green back to Elland Road in January, not long after he left for Huddersfield after becoming No 2 choice to Wiedwald.
Green, 37, was never a bad goalkeeper for Leeds but it will perhaps annoy him about the way he was tossed aside by Christiansen when he led a major summer overhaul of the squad.
The ex-England international still has a lot to offer and he showed that last term when he helped Garry Monk's side to finishing just outside the play-off places.
Green is yet to play a single game since joining Huddersfield and could potentially be tempted my the promise of more first-team football again.
