Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has taken a brutal swipe at former Sky Sports presenter Rachel Riley after Spurs' 3-1 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Easter Sunday.

Countdown mathematician Riley quit Sky Sports in the wake of some horrific online abuse after she joked about Tottenham bottling the race for the Premier League title last season when they lost to West Ham.

Although there was clearly no malice, some fans saw her as an easy target for online trolling after seeing their side crumble against their London rivals, piratically conceding the title to Chelsea.

After blasting Thierry Henry for an honest claim, ex-Spurs player Roberts has now taken aim at her for her comments - which were made almost a year ago - on his personal Twitter account, mocking her for losing her job on Sky.

"Rachel Riley, do you think Chelsea F.C. bottled it yesterday after being 1-0 up? You’ve gone very quiet, not shouting your mouth off now like you did when Spurs lost at West Ham. Oh no, you lost your job at Sky Sports," he said, before deleting the tweet.

Football Insider verdict

What is Roberts trying to gain out of this? Spurs have just won a massive game and practically sealed Champions League qualification and instead he is running his mouth off at a co-host on Countdown for a back handed comment she made almost a year ago. Roberts' Twitter activity has been borderline obsessive after Spurs' win over Chelsea and it seems instead of admiring how well his former club has played, he has gone through a list of pundits, ex-players and managers who have bad-mouthed Tottenham. Riley has not responded to Roberts' cry for attention and she cannot be blamed.
