Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed his admiration for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
The pair previously worked together during Pochettino’s reign as manager of the Saints, before he left in 2014 for White Hart Lane.
Ward-Prowse has been a consistent performer for Southampton this season and has recently been included in Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad.
The 22-year-old has been a regular in the nation’s youth systems growing up and may now be given the opportunity to pick up his first senior cap.
Pochettino has raved about the qualities of Ward-Prowse and believes he thoroughly deserves his national recognition.

“He’s (Ward-Prwose) a great professional, a great player, he deserves to be called up for the national team. He is a fighter,” Pochettino said, as quoted by ESPN FC.
Ward-Prowse has already racked up 162 first-team appearances for Southampton at the age of 22 and is highly rated at St Mary’s Stadium.
The central midfielder has continued to be a regular this season under manager Claude Puel and made 33 appearances across all competitions.
He has managed to contribute with two goals and five assists so far, plus he is a set-piece specialist.
Southampton have had a tendency to lose their best players in recent years, with the likes of Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and Morgan Schneiderlin all leaving.
Manager Pochettino is another that left the Saints, but he has gone on to transform into a top side in the Premier League since.
The north London club also purchased midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton in the last summer transfer window and he has gone on to become a vital player.
In other Tottenham news, Steve Nicol believes this attacker is not good enough for the first team.
