McAvennie baffled by 'strange' Gerrard moves over Rangers duo Edmundson and Jones
Frank McAvennie predicts George Edmundson and Jordan Jones will be given chance to revive their Rangers careers.
The former Celtic hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted after the duo made a surprise return in the Gers’ first pre-season fixture.
On Monday (5th July), the pair were named in Rangers’ starting 11 against Partick Thistle.
Both players were shipped out on loan in January after they broke covid rules by attending a party.
Edmundson went to Derby whole Jones went to Sunderland as both sides stayed in their respective divisions.
As revealed by Football Insider on 11th June, Rangers have turned down several approaches from English clubs for Edmundson this summer.

It is understood one of the bids was from Championship side Peterborough.
McAvennie claims the evidence is stacking up that both players will remain at Ibrox next season.
“I don’t know what Steven Gerrard is thinking,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“You have to use your squad to its fullest and they are still Rangers players.
“It’s a game of little consequence so it doesn’t really matter. It’s a hard one for him because as time goes on we’ll see what happens.
“That might have been it for them, it looked like they were gone. It’s strange.
“But they are still here and if Gerrard thinks they can do a job then they will stay.
“But the shop window thing, I don’t know. They have been out of the club since January.
“Surely they would have left by now if they were going to leave.”
Edmundson has played 17 times for Rangers since joining in 2019.
He made 10 appearances during his loan spell at Derby.
