McAvennie blasts 'disgraceful' Celtic chiefs as Postecoglou haunted by Desmond block
Frank McAvennie claims it’s a disgrace that Ange Postecoglou has not been able to bring his own backroom team to Celtic.
The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the club must get rid of their “yes men”.
Celtic crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday night after losing 2-1 to FC Midtjylland.
This leaves Celtic without Champions League football for the fourth successive season.
Once again, issues regarding the quality and depth of the squad have risen to the surface but there are also doubts over the coaching team.
McAvennie insists Postecoglou is struggling to operate properly as the board led by powerbroker Dermot Demond have blocked him from recruiting his own people.

“The fact of the matter is that he [Postecoglou] doesn’t have his own backroom team,” McAvennie told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“It’s a disgrace that Celtic and Desmond haven’t given him that. I don’t care who you are, you need your own people beside you.
“He needs friends beside him, people who will challenge him and give him food for thought.
“We can’t afford to have loads of yes men who are scared to voice their opinions.
“Conflicting views can be good, a good manager needs to be told what he doesn’t want to hear.
“It was a shambles under Lennon and nothing’s changed, he couldn’t fix it, they are so far off the mark.”
The club now face a Europa League playoff clash against Czech side FK Jablonec to keep their European hopes alive.
