McAvennie suggests when Giorgios Giakoumakis could quit Celtic after Sky's update
Frank McAvennie has suggested Giorgios Giakoumakis might not sign a contract extension at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Giakoumakis would want to play every week and doesn’t think he will get that opportunity under Ange Postecoglou.
According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas (1 November), the Celts are talking to Liel Abada and Giakoumakis about improved contracts following a good start to the season.
Giakoumakis’ current deal at Parkhead runs until 2026 after his arrival from VVV Venlo last summer.
But McAvennie is unsure whether the striker will pen an extension.
“I think it would be good to keep Giakoumakis,” he told Football Insider.
