McAvennie 'sure' multiple Celtic signings on the way after source's reveal

Frank McAvennie insists more first-team signings will arrive at Celtic this month – despite the manager claiming no offers are on the table.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Ange Postecoglou will be given exactly what he wants in the transfer market.

On 31 December, Celtic announced the captures of Daizen Maeda from Yokohama F. Marinos, Yosuke Ideguchi from Gamba Osaka and Reo Hatate from Kawasaki Frontale.

On 8 January, the club also announced the signing of Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers.

This site was also told by a recruitment source on 10 January that the Hoops are in the market for two new attackers this month.

McAvennie is “sure” Celtic will sign more first-team players before the end of January.

“Maybe people were expecting even more signings straight away after the three lads were announced in December,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sure those deals will get done. We’re still waiting to hear about Jota and Carter-Vickers, I hope they arrive.

“Kenny has come in but I’m not sure how much of a role he will play this season.

“We are not even halfway through the window yet, there is plenty of time to sign these players who will instantly improve us.

“I’m sure they will cone because Postecoglou has already been heavily backed and he’s doing such a good job.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him. I didn’t think we would be where we are already.”

Celtic are next in action against Hibernian on 17 January.

They remain six points behind Rangers in the league.
