Frank McAvennie insists Joe Aribo has no reason to leave Rangers and sign for Galatasaray.
The Celtic icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to fresh reports on Aribo’s future.
According to Turkish news outlet Fotaspor, Galatasaray have been priced out of a move for the 24-year-old midfielder.
The report claims Rangers have quoted the Turkish giants £8.6million for Aribo.
Fotomac previously claimed the club had made contact with Rangers over a £3million deal.
McAvennie has questioned why Aribo would move to Galatasaray as he is easily good enough to play in the Championship or even for some Premier League sides.
“I think he’s better than that,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I reckon Aribo is better than Galatasaray. No disrespect to them, they are a wonderful team.
“Turkey is a bit like Scotland, there are few big teams then everyone else. Aribo has been a brilliant player for Rangers.
“He could walk into the Championship easily, probably the bottom of the Premier League too.
“I don’t know why he would want to go there [Turkey]. Unless he likes the sun of course. I think there are a few problems with Galatasaray.
“Maybe moving to them isn’t the best move financially. He’s happy at Rangers as well, he’s doing well for Stevie Gerrard.
“He’s learning from two of the best in Gerrard and Gary McAllister, why would he want to go?”
Aribo scored six Premiership goals as Rangers charged to a 55th league title.
He joined the club from Charlton in the summer of 2019.
