McLeish: Don't be fooled by Aribo 'propaganda' as big-money Rangers sale on the cards
Alex McLeish has insisted Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo could depart in a money-spinning deal despite his recent media comments.
The former Gers manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old’s remarks could merely be the result of his media training.
Football Insider revealed yesterday (15th October) Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on the Nigeria international as a potential Connor Gallagher replacement.
The South London side have become a top destination for young English talent, having completed swoops for highly-rated duo Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise in recent seasons.
McLeish hinted that the youngster’s mind could be elsewhere despite his on-air commitment to the Ibrox club.

“These days, they train young players for the media,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“It’s a bit of propaganda from the player, even when his thoughts could be lying elsewhere.
“He seems like an intelligent guy, seems happy at Rangers – let’s wait and see.
“It might be a case of a big club coming in, and there could be a lot of money to be made for Rangers.”
Aribo joined Rangers on a free transfer in 2019 following the expiry of his contract at Charlton.
The Nigeria international has made 106 appearances for the Ibrox club, netting 19 goals.
That figure includes 15 appearances in all competitions this term. The midfielder has established himself as a mainstay in Steven Gerrard’s side.
Aribo’s contract with the Gers expires in 2023.
