McLeish tells Celtic to get rid of two senior stars after news from Parkhead
Alex McLeish has tipped Celtic to “offload” either Scott Bain or Vasilis Barkas following the signing of Joe Hart from Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager insisted Ange Postecoglou would allow one of the duo to leave.
Celtic confirmed they had secured Hart’s capture on Tuesday (August 3rd).
Barkas, 27, started Postecoglou’s first game in charge as Celtic were held to a 1-1 draw by Midtjylland.
The Greek stopper made a big blunder to allow the Danish side to equalise at Parkhead.
Bain, 29, has started the Bhoys’ last two games, both of which ended in 2-1 defeats to Midtjylland and Hearts.

With Hart through the door, McLeish suggested one of the pair would be on their way.
“I think they will try and offload at least one,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“At the end of the day you have to work the numbers as well at your football club.
“You can’t just hold on to everybody, especially people who are not really getting involved with the first team.
“There’s nothing sadder than watching a player at your club who’s not getting a start and he’s down. You can see his confidence has gone.
“That’s what inevitably will happen when players are not playing in the first team. You have to look at it from a human point of view.
“It’s not just about: ‘Right, we need to get him out and get some money in.’ It’s about people’s wellbeing and happiness.”
Barkas has played 23 times for Celtic since joining for a reported initial £3million from AEK Athens last summer.
Meanwhile, Bain has 72 games under his belt for the Bhoys after initially joining on loan in 2018.
